Cost of google payments

I have Google’s AdSense have Google’s AdSense adverts running on my individual pages and was pleasantly surprised to receive a cheque few days back for the amount I earned last year. It wasn’t much, around 80 plus USD. adverts running on my individual pages and was pleasantly surprised to receive a cheque few days back for the amount I earned last year. Ok so I thought, maybe its sufficient to pay for this year’s web hosting fees. So I went down to OCBC bank to bank in the cheque.
Teller says that I’ll have SG$30 or 1/8% of the amount deducted for clearing the cheque. What’s more, she said the US side will also charge an amount, which she didn’t specified.
So, using asiaone’s conversion rate, at say US$83, i’ll get SG$139 back. Deduct away $30…plus whatever amount from the US, I’ll be left with… peanuts.
Any alternatives? I hate losing money this way.
Oh yah, no harm clicking those ads…thank you.
update – i only got back around SG$81 after all the deductions. blah

  1. Neat, I found another Singaporean who knows really what is happening outside our (amazingly) backward Singapore in the web design arena. Was checking Technorati. I’ve never met a Singaporean in real life who actually knows anything yet as well. Whether my comtemporaries (I’m an undergrad) or professionals, the only thing they know is Dreamweaver and tables for layout. I find it, erm, hard to talk to them professionally.
Anyway, on Adsense, well, that totally sucks – 30 fricking dollars?! Don’t know of a better way to not lose this yuan-wang money.
I have less than 3 dollars for my account after about a month. I don’t think it’s going to pay for anything. If I ever get enough to get a cheque that is.
